Brian Sokol

Brian Sokol, 60, of Vermilion, died Monday, July 27, 2020 at his home after a seven month battle with brain cancer. He was born August 16, 1959 in Ashtabula and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 15 years since moving from Westlake. Brian graduated from St. Edwards High School and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Bowling Green State University. He was a passionate entrepreneur and developed a number of consumer and industrial products. He finished his career as a professor with Bowling Green State University in their entrepreneurial studies program. He was a past member of St. Brendan Parish, North Olmsted and had attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. Brian was also a member of Avon Oaks Country Club and was a passionate golfer and a very talented guitar player. Most of all, he loved his three girls and family with all his heart. Traditional holidays were his favorite time of year. He is survived by his daughters, Brittany (Richard ) Matousek of North Ridgeville, Bethany Sokol of Vermilion, and Brianna Sokol of Vermilion; mother, Audrey (nee Kollen) Sokol of Avon Lake; brother, David (Sherry) Sokol of Vermilion; sister, Carol (Paul) Wittkopf of North Ridgeville; nieces, Jessica (Peter) Spachner, Katelyn Sokol, Hannah Wittkopf; and Mary Wittkopf; nephew, Matthew (Lindy) Sokol; and his loving partner, Julie Erker. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Michael Sokol. Private family services will be held.
